Macbooks: How To Take Care Of Them

I love owning my Macbook, but love can be distracting. It just gets so much right I sometimes forget it isn’t superpowered. Here’s how to return the favor.

1. I keep my Macbook properly ventilated in use. Heat is a big deal for laptops, the vents in the sides let air move in and out of the case to keep the processor from overheating.

To keep the vents unblocked, I place my Macbook on a flat surface while I’m working.Get more information here. http://www.macstories.net/links/shake-to-undo-on-a-macbook-pro/ Working in bed is nice but when I do, I place my laptop on a breakfast tray. I may look ridiculous, but if I use a pillow, it will just keep bunching up against the vents.

2. I clean my Macbook often. Aside from making me look lazy, dust creates problems related to overheating.

Other than using vents, your Macbook lets heat from inside it through the case itself. Anything fouling up a spot makes the case warm up unevenly, which hurts your laptop in the long run.

When my Macbook needs cleaning, I turn it off and wipe dust with a moist cloth. You need to wipe thoroughly so you don’t leave wet spots, which turn into hot spots when the case warms up again.

3. I calibrate the battery once every two months. Macbooks are meant to shut down only when the battery icon’s empty. An ordinary recharge isn’t enough to get the battery back up to stratch.

Next time you recharge, leave your Macbook on for two hours after the adapter turns green. You can keep it plugged in while you work, the point is it needs to stay fully charged for that long.

After two hours, unplug then use your Macbook until the battery icon’s empty. Save your work and wait till it goes to sleep. Don’t let it sleep with programs running.

Wait five hours before recharging again. You’ve just done right by your friend.
